We had a valuable visit to the Western Administration Building on Tuesday, where we met with Superintendent Mark Dubois. Mark shared the complexities behind running a school system, highlighting financials, the role of the school board, and the impact of laws — over 250 have changed in the last six years! He emphasized the importance of education, saying, "I truly believe education is the foundation to a thriving community."
Mark also outlined his 3 keys to success: mindset, skill, and knowledge, explaining that "Mindset is what's going to launch you!" He stressed the importance of finding the right "WHO" for positions in the school, with ideal team members embodying humility, hunger, and smarts. His advice on leadership really stuck with us: “Your circle of friends becomes smaller, and the target on your back becomes larger as you grow into leadership roles.” He reminded us to "Stay true to who you are and your values and be a lifelong learner."
